Job Title: Carpenter

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Constructing and Installing Structures:
    • Build and install frameworks, roofs, doors, windows, and stairs.
    • Construct wooden structures such as houses, offices, and other buildings.
    • Install flooring, decking, skirting boards, architraves, and ceiling panels.
  2. Measuring and Cutting:
    • Take accurate measurements of spaces and structures.
    • Use power tools (saws, drills, sanders, etc.) and hand tools to cut, shape, and finish wood and other materials to precise specifications.
  3. Reading Blueprints and Drawings:
    • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and other technical documents to understand project requirements and design specifications.
    • Follow instructions and safety guidelines for every project.
  4. Repairs and Maintenance:
    • Repair or replace damaged wood and structural elements, such as floors, beams, and door frames.
    • Perform general maintenance and refurbishment tasks on existing structures and fittings.
  5. Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to UK health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
    • Wear and maintain safety equipment like gloves, goggles, and dust masks.
  6. Working with Different Materials:
    • Apart from wood, carpenters may also work with other materials, such as plastic, metal, and concrete, especially for finishing and detailed work.
  7. Customer Service:
    • Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide quality service.
    • Ensure projects meet client expectations, timelines, and budgets.
  8. Project Management:
    • Sometimes, carpenters may oversee or work alongside other tradespeople, ensuring the timely completion of construction or renovation projects.
